In Preparation for the First Mindanao Interfaith Congress –

MINI-CONGRESS

A conceptual presentation on:

“Interfaith Communities Participation in Nation-building
and Mindanao Peace”

I. Brief Description of the Project
Pooling together the positive commonalities of all religious faiths (except the
occult) towards the attainment of Mindanao peace in cooperation with all existing
institutions, agencies, movements, organizations and individuals with similar intent.

II. Two-fold Goal of the Project
1. To review the interfaith movement in the Philippines which started in 1972 in the light of a challenge for every Filipino to participate in nation-building regardless of faith, belief, or denominational affiliation; and
2. To make available to all government and non-government leaders, the help of the interfaith community towards the attainment of peace in Mindanao in our time.

III. Specific Objectives
A. To define “Peace” from the point of view of spiritual leaders, not from the point of view of politicians or sociologists or military leaders and at the same time, a definition that would also be acceptable to them.
B. To offer strategies towards the attainment of that peace, as defined such strategies to exclude the use of violence in any form, shape or manner at any given time or place.
C. To create an image of the Interfaith Community as servant or instrument of peace, as defined, not as authors of it, acknowledging God alone as the author of peace, not man.
