chie Aikido Nippon Kan Iligan

Aikido has long been practiced by pinoys but few see the true purpose by the founder O-sensei Morihei Ueshiba, PEACE. Most students only have violence in mind. They call it self defense. But the total effect of such actions are most of time hospital visits or worst: jail time. Understanding is not easy to come by since Aikido like any other martial art has been depicted in movies as a tool to control others. One thing eludes us students is understanding of self. Judge thy self first. Anyway this… Continue

Victor and Sally Brubacker HOW TO SOLVE A PROBLEM

1. SEEDS - The way to start out in solving a problem is to entertain a solid belief that for every problem there is a solution. Indeed, every problem contains the seeds of its own solution. Find the answer to your problem by looking deeply into the problem itself. 2. CALM - To solve a problem, remain emotionally calm. Uptightness can block off the flow of thought power. By reducing stress and tension, the mind will operate efficiently and effectively. 3. ASSEMBLE - In dealing with a problem, a p… Continue

Nur Danial Muslim Never Die

Sulu is still suffering from turmoil of political games. The attacks are coming from different angles. The breath of justice subsists in thin line. The rhymes of peace are replaced by the explosive bombs and guns after the hijab (veil) uncovered by malicious acts. Who are to be blame? Do need to blame? Do Muslims in Sulu need to pick up the fallen kriss? Do they really need the sword for the sword? Who will benefit after the war? I know, the Tausugs from Sulu are used to playing with guns than… Continue

Nur Danial Eid Fitr Bomb Celebration in Sulu

It was 6:30 in the morning on September 20, 2009; I rushed to a mosque near our base in Zamboanga City. I was excited to receive the award of tranquility after 29 days of sacrifice in the month of Ramadan. The Muslim Ummah throughout the world were busy preparing for Eidl Fitr prayer while chanting "Allah Ho Akbar" (God is Great). Thank God I was one of the survivors of one month fasting. Fasting is something special to all Muslims. Indeed it is self purification and peace of mind and it was in… Continue

Jamju THINKING OUT OF THE BOX

In response to a previous post by Morolaw on "Philippine Constitutionalism and the Mindanao Conflict" The very same Constitution which Atty. Zainudin S. Malang (LL.M., I.M.R.I, J.D.) blames for so much of what has failed over the course of many years of peace negotiations (a result of "the clash between TWO CULTURES" - Christian Filipinos and Muslim Filipinos - within A SINGLE NATION, i.e. the Republic of the Philippines), is the self-same document which assures the protection of the many Filip… Continue

Glorypearl Dy Uphold the Primacy of the Peace Process

We, the Mindanao Peace Weavers- a convergence of seven peace networks in Mindanao- challenges the Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) to recommit to previous ceasefire agreements and immediately reactivate the ceasefire mechanisms. There is no other way but for the GRP and the MILF to come together and dialogue for the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Mindanao. This is the only way for both sides to be accountable to the protect… Continue

eccentric waif Beyond the Microscope

To a microscope are we simply flesh and blood? Epithelium, fascia, muscle? A meshwork of road maps and railway stations for discoid corpuscles? but to what import is probably not a matter of importance. outside, the cat purrs starving. her preference for milk-fish a far-fetched notion amidst recession. nearby fire ants contrive with termites of what better way to soften the foundation. amidst uncertain darkness we are still worth dying for and the yellow lady sleeps for yellow ribbons to… Continue
