Senor San Miguel in the Lives of the Iliganons
Tomorrow is the "Pagkanaug" when the image of St. Michael the Archangel will be taken down its usual position at the side altar in preparation for the worshippers and devotees approach to him on his feast day, September 29. This ritual is heavily attended by a mega-throng of ardent believers in San Miguel, who affirm their faith in him, entrust their hopes in him, proclaim him to be God's greatest angel! When I first heard of the Vagina Monologues, I must admit I reacted like a typical nun-run- school-bred Filipina. Growing up, the female privates are not talked about except in euphemisms, pretty-sounding nicknames that do not, in any way, call to mind the complexity of the vagina's nature.
