What is the idea behind Taboan Mindanao

We believe in the power of knowledge-sharing and what it can do to empower people. We are trying to gather here as many people as possible and encourage them to write about what they know. Taboan Mindanao aims to be a hub for people interested to share their knowledge on what is happening in Mindanao and their various development initiatives. You'll be able to come here and educate yourself about what's going on and where, and also share YOUR knowledge.

Here are a few things to consider when joining the community:

1. Check out the members and discussion groups.

2.Introduce yourself if you've joined a discussion group.

3. Read and post comments on other people's stories. Offer tips or related stories and links.

4. Always be wary of spamming people.

5. Please do not promote sites with themes on violence, porn, racism and gambling.

Discussion Groups

We encourage members to join groups and participate in the discussions. If you want to create a new group around a particular topic or industry please feel free to do so.

Member Blogs

We encourage members to write blogs about their experiences and the challenges they have encountered.Sharing tips and how-tos is also greatly appreciated.

Trust andCivility.

One of the guiding principles here is trust. Content visible on the main page can be added by almost everybody that has joined Taboan. Anyone can post a comment without editorial oversight and only minimal moderation. We give you the ability to do this because I trust you. I trust that you'll act in a civilized manner, that you'll treat others with opposing viewpoints with absolute respect, that you'll contribute in a positive way to the intelligent and constructive discussions that take place here regularly.

Reciprocity.

There are unspoken rules to the game of web participation. Many of these guidelines reinforce the reciprocal exchange of information and ideas. For example, good web citizens leave insightful comments for other people. In their own posts, good web citizens give credit to the source for a story or idea if they were inspired elsewhere online. You don't win bonus points by claiming credit for others' ideas, but you do by sharing the source of your inspiration.
