Peace Building

Peacebuilding usually involves efforts to increase "normal," cooperative contacts between opponents. Stephen Ryan explains that peacekeeping "builds barriers between warriors," while peacebuilding "builds bridges between the ordinary people." Efforts are made to open channels of communication, get people involved in joint projects, work with the media and the educational system to try to break down stereotypes and reduce prejudice and discrimination. The goal of all of these efforts is reconciliation--getting the people to accept each other as part of their own group or be reconciled to mutual co-existence and tolerance.

Hi.. every body
I'm sophia from Aceh, Indonesia
I know how is the feeling of people who stay in conflicts
I had this experience too

I visited Mindanao in 2008, particularly Davao, Pikit and Bual
the important thing in peace is willingness of the community to build their life better than before, and not only think about themselves
I agree to others opinion who said that respect is important
I watched the community life in Mindanao, in some points, there're good thing that should be continue, and have to evaluate the lack to see what should to do to repair

Yes, some people might say we are dreamers of an impossible dream. I firmly believed that peace in Mindanao is not just a fathom away from tomorrow but it is already there- in the hearts of those who not only aspire for Peace in Mindanao, but worked and asked for its appearance from the SUPREME CREATOR, that one morning it will just go with the rays of the sun and shower its lights on every inch of land in Mindanao. There is no defeat for those who aspire for peace!

Kalinaw

gihisgotan sulod sa bugnaw nga mga hotel
aron kuno mahusay tanang panagbingkil.

"kinahanglan gayod kita managhiusa."
pulong sa ekspertong mingisi sa kamera.

apan sa dihang gituki kon asa maghiusa,
migawas gyod ang tinuod nga kolor niya.

ang panaghiusa diay nga iyang gidamgo
taman ra man diay sa istoryang pinulitiko.

"nalumos tos sabaw o kaha nakalimot og ginhawa."

"kamo nay mahibalo kon unsay ihatag ninyo kanamo."

ug kon kami mangatarongan ingnong way mga buot.

wa pa mahuman ang istoryang way padulngan.

kay unsaon man og kahuman ang hisgotanan,
nga di man nila ilhon ang tinuod nga gisugdan?

aduna may kalambigitan sa among pagkaalaut.

I somehow look at family disputes to be the primary source of violence, feuds, and wars in Mindanao. Religion isn't the root cause of it all, but the greed, selfishness, and own hidden motives of every individual/clan/group/tribe/ sect in Mindanao.

Because of this, peace isn't really attainable at the moment, owing to the fact, that everyone are just thinking about what they will benefit-- and not really about what would be good for the majority.

hi everyone, i'm new here.
anybody wants to tell what do we have here?
at any rate, i still believe that peace is not simply the absence of war. i used to believe that peace is food for everyone, land to the landless tillers, and so on and so forth.
our town is basically a tri-people community. during our founding anniversary last year, it was the center of our celebration. though i for one does not fully believe that it should not be the case. i mean that such practice is too limited if we really wanted to achieve genuine peace.
thanks a lot.

PEACE starts between the ordinary Mindanaon Tri people (muslim , christian and lumad) coming together in one village , immersing and understanding each others culture , music , dances and apreciating and patronizing its arts , handloom industry , handy crafts and culinary arts. Respecting each others religious beliefs and practices. Studying and practicing its own social system and traditional / indigenous community law.

Madugo ang tatlong taong experience in our Heritage Park during our one week Kalilangan Festival here in gensan, but its worth the struggles, sacrifices and efforts. We have a TRI PEOPLE HERITAGE PEACE PARK at the center of the our city plaza , slowly we had brought and will bring the three tribes together during the celebration. Taking pride of their respective colorful , exotic and vibrant culture. A venue where the tri people can express who they are and what they want and where they want to go .

Peace is the absence of intolerable conflict.
