Proper Waste Disposal

We've been talking a lot about on how to protect our environment, but we do not act on it. I believe one of the best way of protecting our environment is to follow the simple steps of "proper waste d…

Levy has a point...
for many years now, or decades perhaps, this has been the by-mouth of the majority of us. of course, we are right in this observation.
but i think it is about time to do something out of this situation. we cannot simply let the biodiversity crisis take its toll upon us. and this forum could be an impetus.
i personally think that it is not only enough to say that something must be done to reverse the situation, it could be better for everybody to say that something must be done systematically and in an organized manner.

It's unfortunate that much of the more serious and earlier environmental destruction in MIndanao has been inflicted by transnational agribusiness industries, logging and large mining ventures. They caused soil degradation, destruction to biodiversity and worst of all, displacement of indigenous peoples who have traditionally depended on their environment for survival and out of which their culture emerged and developed. Much of their identity derived from their relationship with their homelands (crafts, rituals etc.). We may now just be witnessing the last frontiers of these homelands. Indeed, a network like Taboan can perhaps contribute to saving these last frontiers and the traditional communities that lived with them.

hello, i'm new here...
hope to learn something from all of you.
to start with, like all of us, i believe that we should do something to reverse the environmental destruction happening around us.
our ecological solid waste management program is still in its infancy. presently, we are looking for alternatives in reducing our residuals. and it is in this aspect that we are looking for cheaper technologies to do this.
i'd appreciate it if you can suggest some ideas.
thanks a lot.

RE GREENWASHING... this we should be vigilant against. The big companies project an image of being green. But this is pure PR or pogi points. For instance they cut trees and then claim they replant only to promote monoculture. They plant trees they want to grow.

These companies do not deserve babying because they are not innocent. Note that they try to avoid levy and would influence people to support for government to give them incentive for coming up with their GREEN initiatives. I wonder why we do not have green taxation and do not adopt "polluters pay." They are so spoiled...

You could volunteer to help defend Mt. Hamiguitan from plunder of imperialist mining TNC, in connivance with local corporate elite, by contacting Legal Rights and Natural Resources-Kasama sa Kalikasan-Friends of the Earth-Philippines - Davao City. You could also help in a simple way by organizing forum on The State of Philippine Environment: National and Regional Biodiversity Situation, with focus on Key Biodiversity Areas (KBA) in Southern Mindanao such as Mt. Hamiguitan. This is to raise the critical awareness and involvement of the people to defend our national patrimony.

Hello! Can I volunteer for any projects of this group?

Supporting for Mt. Hamiguitan as World Heritage Site could be another tactics for biodiversity conservation and sustainable development against plunder of our patrimony (biological diversity and natural resources) by Transnational Corporation (TNC), in connivance with the imperialist puppet Arroyo government and local elite. Yeah, Hon. Avila is right that Mt. Hamiguitan as World Heritage Site should be genuinely supported by all Mindanawons, minus GREENWASHING.... Thanks.

It's sad that while Mt. Hamiguitan is nominated as a World Heritage Site, it is also being threatened by mining - the Pujada (Hallmark) Nickel Project, a joint venture project of Asiaticus Management Corporation (AMCOR) and BHP BIlliton, the world's largest mining company.
