Before we start sharing on what we know of Mindanao, and we're sure all of us have lots to share, Taboan.net would like to know what you want for Mindanao. Lets call it a Wishlist for Mindanao. Although Taboan.net is no Santa Claus or a genie in a bottle and we definitely cannot grant what you wish for, maybe as we go along sharing and collaborating, we can find a way to make those wishes come true. Far out? Maybe. But lets give it a try anyway!!
I've read your arguments. They emphasize the present. Good.
And may I ask why 'a united people of the blind?'
(a united people, blind to the differences of religion, culture, race and origin... ONE UNITED PEOPLE. ONE STRONG NATION! NOT CHRISTIAN...NOR MORO...BUT FILIPINO.)
Well, as for me, I prefer to be wide-eyed:
I appreciate the present as well and promote the present culture and language of the people that it may flourish. My Bisaya people have our culture and language that we don't want to die out.
I'm with you in the dream of 'ONE UNITED PEOPLE. '
But this dream must be built on reality, on the realities of peoples, their cultures and languages.
Hope we see our mega-diverse languages and cultures as our inherited wealth. It may be of the past, but is passed on to us now, our inheritance and hopefully we can pass the wealth on for posterity. Besides they may be our contributions to the World's diversity of cultures and languages.
Now to our dream of UNITY. Who are they that you want to be gathered in unity? What are their names? What is their culture and language?
They have names other than the name Filipinos as members of the Philippine state or goverment . They have their own original name, culture and language as peoples, as nations. Their language is not Tagalog (or Filipino) [ true to non-Tagalogs]. They have their own Mother Tongue. They love their mothers too.
Philippines is a country of many nations. A nation being a people with their own language and culture. We can not be blind to the diverse peoples' realities, for the dream of a strong United Philippine Nations must be built on the realities in its islands.
Well, I agree with you, we can't over-emphasize the religious identities, Muslim, Christians, Animists. In the case of Mindanao, these religious categories are over-exploited or abused for non-religious political purposes. But we can not under-emphasize as well the cultural or ethnic identities. Why not? The ethnic peoples, once blind or asleep, but now are awakened to their own original identities. Wide awake they also want to and will preserve and promote what is their very own. That's reality. That's now.
The dream of a United Philippine Nations. Is a nice dream. But that's in the future. Let's built it on the realities of the Now. Not blindly, but wide awake.
Just like you, I appreciate the reality of the Now.
No, sir... abolish the ARMM not merely because it is corrupt... abolish the ARMM because the whole premise of establishing it is inherently wrong... it should not exist even if it was not corrupt.
The fact that IT IS CORRUPT is just a case of "I told you so"...
I wish that Mindanaons understand and relate well with fellow Mindanaons. I wish that the day comes when we no longer draw ethnic dividing lines between and among us. I wish that the day comes when we pride ourselves with only one identity, i.e. as Mindanaons only. I wish that the only line that divides us is one that separates the Good Mindanaons from the Bad Mindanaons. Then the Good Mindanaons shall strive to annihilate the Bad Mindanaons, not by killing them, but by eradicating the bad in themselves so that only their innate goodness remain, as God created all men in their inherent goodness.

i HAD STOP REPLYING HERE ON TABOAN NET BUT I NEED TO REPLY TO MY DEAR FRIEND honorable MAUGAN B. MOSAID. MOST OF ALL TO THANK YOU MAUG FOR THE WISE AND COURAGING WORDS YOU SHARE WITH US. I NEED NOTHING MORE THAN FRIENDS ACTING LIKE THIS. AND YOU KNOW WHAT?????? I FULLY AGREE.
I admire the way you stand by your arguments; Jamju too, and the others. It is surprising, though, that you will choose to stop participating in here. You are one of those I consider to be tacitly knowledgeable on the various Mindanao concerns; and mind you there are still a thousand and one more issues that were left unearthed and unventilated.
I'm sorry but I consider that unwise if not an attitude of defeatism. Please hang on my friend. We need you. Mindanao needs you.

Dear Mau...... sometimes words are sharper than whatever knife. Sometimes friends can speak words harder than solid diamonds. Sometimes we need time to understand things that seems not that important. Sometimes we need to stand up and speak for those who have no mouth to speak. Sometimes we need love to understand the beauty that is around us.
Long time ago you send me this small line: "I'm sorry but I consider that unwise if not an attitude of defeatism. Please hang on my friend" and today am able to say thank, thank you Mau!!
And my answer now is.... of course i hang on to what is the best i can do: serving the people of Mindanao, by serving God.
Who asked that ethnic lines be drawn to divide us in the first place? By calling this mythical homeland 'Bangsamoro'... by naming your autonomous region a 'Muslim Mindanao' region... who drew the first line? It all used to be just Mindanao.
We only aim to erase these artificial dividing lines "imposed" on all of us in Mindanao. We should stop calling each other Christian or Muslim or Lumad... just as much as Americans should stop calling their citizens Whites, Blacks and Latinos... our worldview dictates that we all start calling ourselves simply, FILIPINOS. That's it. No more, no less.
Lastly, we agree with you wholeheartedly that all Good Mindanaoans should work to vanquish all Bad Mindanaoans, once and for all. We too, believe that we are all inherently GOOD. On this thought, we support you completely, and we are willing to work hand in hand with you on efforts that will bring about this great reawakening.
Sir,
The individual and People can have multiple identities.
In one person, say me, I'm Asian, Filipino, Bisaya, Mindanaoan and many more identities as well. They are not contradictory.

Dear Dr. Bong Capitan..... as a member of the BAPTIST Council Europe i have forward your "dream" to see what can be done. My advice to you is to remove that www.laboit.com adress as it maybe shows to much you are dreaming about. Maybe when you ask to much, nothing is given. Be humble and be happy with maybe a very very "old" mobile dental bus from Europe....... and realise that not many country's are willing to do anything for the Phili because of the wellknown corruption of our great Gov.....
Speaking of corruption in government.. re: "Palace hits back at de Venecia.."
It turned out as amusing to watch Malacanang and de Venecia take turns in hitting back at each other for respective wrongdoings in government.
This is the beauty of former partners-in-crime that parted ways. They will now start pulling each other down to the benefit of the Filipino publics.
Once and for all, let's believe them for they are now telling the truth. All of them are guilty of what they are telling us now. All of them are corrupt and they are not capable of changing for the better. The only way out for them is to back off from government service! I said BACK OFF..!!
These corrupt officials who now sit at the top echelon of government should now commit 'harakiri' to redeem their honor, at least!
And when they DO commit 'harakiri'.. we say 'aregatu gusai mas'..
